I still think your blog is fabulous! :)

I personally think the success of a blog depends on your personal goals for that blog. Do you want to have the most readers? Make people think? Have lots of dialogs? Help people? Advance your career? There are so many reasons why we blog, and how well we're meeting those goals should define how we feel about our blog.

Hi Meredith,

Thanks for your comment -- and vote of support. I agree 100% with your ideas on how to judge the success of a blog. My goals have always been to make this blog a way to force myself to keep up with the profession and explore scholarly communication patterns of scientists and engineers.

And have a bit of fun. So if I can poke a bit of fun at myself over something like this, well, so be it.

As I said in a previous post, these types of lists & rankings appeal to our pride and vanity, failings we all have, so I see this kind of post as an opportunity to deflate myself a bit, put things in perspective.
