Jumping on the latest and newest tool is not always the best long term strategy.

I am convinced that the real blogs are here to stay. They may evolve, but I do not see anything that can replace them, yet. What is a real blog? A place where someone writes good prose and share thoughtful ideas.Daniel Lemirehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01566622051558391310noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3831412.post-45245094580237200122009-02-12T16:50:00.000-05:002009-02-12T16:50:00.000-05:00Effing, that's the joy of blogging pseudonymously....Effing, that's the joy of blogging pseudonymously.

JohnJohn Dupuishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09829396649299444557noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3831412.post-49296530003724159362009-02-12T13:53:00.000-05:002009-02-12T13:53:00.000-05:00I comment so I can see my name on other people's b...I comment so I can see my name on other people's blogs.

ok. kidding. I think that reputation accrues to us as a byproduct of blogging about what interests us.

Joe, like I said above, the reputation aspects have to be secondary to making a contribution in the chicken-egg aspects of all this. If you blog to become famous, that will be your reputation.

Anon, yeah, it's a problem. There aren't really any ways around it in the corporate setting. Employers should realize that their employees reputations reflect on them -- but they worry about this in the context of employees building *bad* reputations.John Dupuishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09829396649299444557noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3831412.post-61062763197523702832009-02-05T14:19:00.000-05:002009-02-05T14:19:00.000-05:00just an fyi: some employers are quite rigid when i...just an fyi: some employers are quite rigid when it comes to blogs, even if you put up the usual disclaimer "these are my personal opinions...", going so far as to discipline employees...sad but true...also, maybe it's just me but a lot of library bloggers seem to be posting a lot less these days (yourself being an exception), I wonder why?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3831412.post-45933943352857662922009-02-04T22:42:00.000-05:002009-02-04T22:42:00.000-05:00I enjoyed the comment about Wired. Not everyone is in a position to become part of a faculty or school and to interact with other scholars on a regular basis. If you're feeling somewhat isolated, blogging helps to break down the barriers.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
