MSNBC - Can Star Wars: Episode III be saved? is my "gratuitous SF posting" for the month of May. Priceless quote of the month: "In many ways, Phantom and Clones were the answer to the unasked question “What would the director of Plan 9 From Outer Space have done with a talented effects crew and a $200 million budget?” Ouch. But deserved as, in my opinion, Episodes I & II were two of the dullest movies ever made.

Amen to that. I am seriously considering not seeing Episode III at all. I mean, the original trilogy was so exciting because it was just that: ORIGINAL. (There were plenty of attempts to imitate STAR WARS, but none really succeeded.)

However with the last two movies, we get George Lucas trying to imitate George Lucas. 'Tis sad. And it gets worse: now he's done a computer-edited "special edition" of his first film THX 1138, too. Argh.
