Here & There
Lots to report, some of which I would normally want to do full post about. But since this is the last day around here for a while...
- Philosophy Now magazine has an issue on medical ethics. Some of the articles are available via the home page, but for the most interesting looking ones you have to but the magazine. One of the free ones is Xenotransplantation: For and Against by Ololade Olakanmi and Laura Purdy. (This will be the permanent link for this issue once it is replaced on the home page by the next.)
- Via BoingBoing, BlogReader is a blog that profiles bloggers. Mark Frauenfelder of BoingBoing is one of them.
- Asking the right questions, when to be simple, when to be complex. Amen to that.
- New Model for Scholarly Publishing -- I guess not all university presses/scholarly publishers are clueless. At least Rice gets it.
- Sudden Thoughts And Second Thoughts -- lots to think about from Stephen Bell on what the heck it is we're trying to do anyways.
- Your Favorite Support Anecdote. Slashdotters take on techsupport. So, reading /. could be a full time job, couldn't it.
- Constructing my dream department
- Interview with ACM’s New President, Stuart Feldman
- Google Tech Talks. Cool! These are really substantial, interesting talks, too.
- Information Literacy Standards for Science and Engineering/Technology approved at ALA.
- Yarn Versus Science: Who Wins?
