Friday fun, Part Deux: Cthulhu does not pay for anything.

For Lovecraftians only, this is pretty funny. via Bookslut

This is just strange. Yesterday I was adding a mini-essay to a growing pile destined for the next Cites & Insights (if you track the masthead, you can guess the reason for a bunch of mini-essays)...on "zombie sentences." Which quoted a certain professor from Miskatonic University.

And so (because I'd forgotten the spelling of Ct...there it goes again) I discovered the several fairly elaborate Miskatonic University websites--and Wikipedia's related entry, which seems to suggest that only one of them is the real Miskatonic (all, of course, in Arkham). The one I looked at had 9.5 million books in its library and more than 1,900 faculty for the 5,000 students. Not bad, quite apart from its special holding of the Necronomicon.

Yes, Walt, by definition anything involving the Great Old Ones is going to be strange.

If memory serves, Cthulhu didn't do all that well in his battle with a certain oversized Japanese dinosaur...

Perhaps he's not such a Great One after all.
