Cool Tools for Scholars: The Presentation
A couple of weeks ago I asked for some help in constructing a Brown Bag Presentation on Cool Tools for Scholars.
Well, I finally gave the presentation this past Thursday. The slides are here.
The presentation went pretty well, if a little sparsely attended. Unfortunately, I was scheduled right after a planning meeting which went a little long. However, the session was pretty lively with lots of questions and discussion. I think the cool tools that were the best received were Google Docs and Zotero.
I really enjoyed giving the presentation and I hope I'll get a chance to repeat it sometime.

John,
I really did enjoy the presentation. The only reason it was so poorly attended was the overlap in the librarian planning meeting. I learn something new every time I talk to you or attend your presentations! That very night I signed up for a Zoho account. I've already used the Writer and I'm currently working on planning an outline for an article using the Notebook! It really is a cool tool. I'm going to go back and look at my notes and figure which tools might be useful to my faculty members!
Thanks for the kind words, Norda, I'm glad you found it useful.
And I agree, the timing was just bad luck. On the "glass half full" side of it though, I guess I should think of the attendance as pretty good given the conflict!
I think I'll see if I can get the session added to the Research Frontiers roster for the winter. That way librarians that missed it could catch it as well as making it open to all the scholars out there!
Great slide show. I've tagged it and sent the aggregator reference to our Biotech librarian.
